my roommate is engaged!

Let's face it: we all knew karyine/kardine/karoline would be first.

But I know you all want to hear my version of the proposal.

also let's keep in mind that we've all been planning the wedding for over a month now. they were just waiting on her custom, rap guy's girlfriend's ring. blinded.

So, Sunday night, steven texts me and asks me to go up with him to the shops at the riverwoods to "find a good spot." we made the plan for tuesday at eleven.

tuesday at 11 he calls me and says, "I'll be there in three minutes!"

Three minutes later, I get in his car.

he says, "okay we have to be fast because karoline is at a dress fitting and it probably won't take that long."

two minutes after that, he receives a text from karoline.

karoline was done with her fitting.

steven commences freak out.

"how long can i put off answering her text before she knows something is up?"

we rack our brains for excuses as to what is going to take him a half hour to get back and pick her up. 

shower? "no, she knows i already showered this morning."

sleeping? "no, i just dropped her off."

you had to go pick up her ring? "then she'll know i have it tonight."

"it has to be something that she won't be mad at me for being late for."

you're getting her food? "that could work. zupas has call-in ordering."

then steven proceeds to make the phone call to tell karoline that "the line is really long" and "it might take me like, twenty minutes."

ready, break. get to riverwoods. find spot. make plan. go to zupas. pick up food. just 45 minutes late to pick her up. it's not like that's a long time to be alone downtown or anything?

Fast forward to tuesday night:

meet with steven's little brother and karoline's mom. get in place. sneak around outside la jolla getting set up so they don't see us. hide behind doorways.

but then they were taking FOREVER to come outside. so i thought, "hey, i'll try and set my phone up close to record it." but as i'm working on it, they come out of the far door, so i have to run back. then i don't hear them coming any closer to the spot, and i see steven's little brother run the other direction.

then, silence.

so i go back to trying to set my phone up. and of course just then they turn the corner. and i was totally apparent. but karoline apparently didn't see me. and then the magic happened:

apparently, karoline was trying to lead steven through blickenstaff's for a warm cut back to the car. but steven was leading her the other direction. and karoline was getting annoyed. but steven had to take her the other way.

wedding fever has officially begun!
